The situation

Tiny Boat Nation sells DIY boat-building products, from small accessories through to boat motors. They have an active YouTube and Facebook community that comes to them for hobby advice as much as for product — a genuine audience, already earned.

The challenge

After several months on a basic smart shopping campaign, they wanted to scale. The harder problem was that smart shopping was largely harvesting an audience they had already built. Growth needed to come from non-branded demand, and nothing in the account was structured to find it.

What we did

  • Built a shopping campaign funnel targeting specific search terms and high-ticket product groups such as motors, for volume and control
  • Launched a dedicated branded search campaign to hold top position on their own name
  • Moved branded terms out of smart shopping so that budget could chase genuinely new demand
  • Separated branded and non-branded reporting so growth could be measured rather than assumed
